How the ranking works
Each row is a reference with a published pre-owned range, ordered by the midpoint of that range, lowest first. The range comes from eBay and auction sold prices of that reference, normalised to a pre-owned watch with box and papers and weighted toward recent sales, and the last column shows how many sold prices back it. A range resting on many sales is firmer than one resting on a few.
Cheapest is not the same as best value
A lower midpoint can mean an older reference, a smaller case or a simpler watch. Compare the years, size and case columns before you decide, and read the reference page to see what moves its price. If you want a model still in production, our Rolex cost page lists those.
Where the cheapest references come from
Sort the table by reference to see which collections appear. The Datejust, Oyster Perpetual, Air-King and Explorer pages list every reference of those collections, including the ones without a published range yet.
Before you buy a lower-priced Rolex
- Ask for the papers and match the serial to the watch.
- Ask when it was last serviced; an overdue service adds to the real cost.
- Compare the asking price with the range on the reference page, and with the sold prices listed there.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest Rolex?
In our sold-price data, the lowest pre-owned midpoint belongs to the Speedking 4220 at $1,350. The table ranks the next ones in order, and each reference page shows its full range and how many sales back it.
What is the cheapest Rolex for men?
Sort the table by size to find the larger references in this ranking, or open our men's Rolex page, which lists every reference of 39 mm and larger with its published range. The range column there sorts from lowest to highest.
What is the cheapest new Rolex?
We don't show retail prices yet, because we only publish one we can confirm from the brand's own price list. This ranking uses pre-owned sold prices instead.
Why are the cheapest references mostly older models?
Look at the years column: many references in this ranking are discontinued, so they are only sold pre-owned, and their sold prices set the range. Condition and box and papers move each sale, so check the reference page before you compare offers.
Can a cheap Rolex be a fake?
Any Rolex can be faked, and a low asking price is a reason to check more carefully. Match the reference and serial on the papers to the watch, buy where returns are possible, and have a watchmaker open it before the return period ends.
Why isn't my reference on this list?
This page only ranks references where we publish a pre-owned range, because a reference without one can't be placed fairly. Every reference we track is on its collection page, with how many sold prices are on file so far.
Where to buy
- Dealers. Choose one that offers a return period and puts the reference, serial and condition in writing.
- Auction houses. Results are public after the sale, and a buyer's premium is added to the hammer price.
- Private sellers. Meet somewhere safe, check the papers against the watch, and pay in a traceable way.
Wherever you buy, have a watchmaker confirm the movement and serial before any return period ends. Each reference page above shows the recent sold prices we have on file, so you can compare an asking price with what the same reference has sold for.
